Below is the joint statement for press release as agreed upon by the
Continental Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club.

JOINT STATEMENT

The Canadian Kennel Club and the Continental Kennel Club have resolved their dispute over the acronym "CKC."

In 1996, the Canadian Kennel Club filed a trademark and service mark infringement suit against the Continental Kennel Club in Federal court in New York.  Continental Kennel Club denied any wrongdoing and asserted certain affirmative defenses against the Canadian Kennel Club.  The New York court then granted Continental's motion to transfer the case to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.

In 1997, Canadian Kennel Club commenced a separate trademark and service mark infringement suit against Continental Kennel Club in the Federal Court of Canada.  Again, Continental Kennel Club denied any wrongdoing and asserted certain affirmative defenses.  In January 1998, Canadian discontinued the Canadian lawsuit.

On December 1, 1998, the parties entered into an agreement pursuant to which the parties have recognized each others rights to use the acronym "CKC" in ways which will not present a likelihood of confusion among the public.  Each party is committed to working towards a healthful coexistence.  In consideration of mutual covenants and obligations under the Agreement, Canadian has discontinued the U.S. lawsuit.
